On July 26, 2024, CHRM College hosted a remarkable event to officially launch a groundbreaking HR book titled HR Profession in Kenya. The occasion was marked by insightful speeches, engaging discussions and a celebration of the evolution of Human Resource Management in Kenya.

The event was graced by esteemed personalities, including our Board Chairperson Fabian Mugira, FIHRM, Principal CHRP Margaret K. Kinyanjui, Chief Guest Paul Kasimu, FIHRMand the book’s author, Mr. Samson Osero. Their inspiring contributions and remarks made the event truly memorable.

Our keynote speaker, Mr. Paul Kasimu, FIHRM, HR Transformation and Change Advisor at Safaricom PLC, took attendees on a nostalgic journey through the history of the HR profession in Kenya, from the origins of IPM-K to the present-day realities. He celebrated the resilience and dedication of the pioneers and successive leaders in the profession. Mr. Kasimu concluded with a powerful call to action for all HR professionals to elevate the role of HR in national conversations by embracing teamwork, cohesion, and constructive engagement.

Mr. Samson Osero, the author of the newly launched book, shared his motivations for writing it. His aim was to explore the history, evolution, legislation and future of HR in Kenya. This comprehensive resource is intended for HR professionals, students, scholars and anyone interested in the field. Mr. Osero emphasized that understanding the profession’s past and future will enable HR professionals to equip themselves with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.

Our Principal, CHRP Margaret K. Kinyanjui, praised Mr. Osero’s dedication to advancing the HR profession. “This book reflects his commitment, even in retirement, to enhancing the HR profession and expanding the knowledge base within our professional community,” Kinyanjui said. In a heartfelt show of solidarity and community spirit, the College of Human Resource Management (CHRM) has stepped forward to support the Kenya Red Cross Society in their ongoing relief efforts for families affected by the recent heavy rains. Recognizing the urgent need for aid, the CHRM management and staff rallied together to make a significant contribution to assist those in need during this challenging time.

On the 4^th of June 2024, the CHRM team, led by our esteemed Principal, CHRP Margaret K. Kinyanjui, presented the donations to the Director/Principal of the Kenya Red Cross Training Institute, Ms. Monica Orero. This generous act underscores CHRM’s commitment to social responsibility and our dedication to supporting the broader community.

CHRP Margaret K. Kinyanjui expressed her gratitude towards the staff and management for their swift response and generosity. “At CHRM, we believe in the power of community and the importance of supporting one another in times of need. Our collaboration with the Kenya Red Cross Society is a testament to our values of compassion and solidarity,” she remarked.

The Kenya Red Cross Society, represented by Ms. Monica Orero, acknowledged the significant contribution from CHRM. “We are deeply grateful for the support from CHRM. Their timely donation will go a long way in providing essential relief to the families affected by the heavy rains. This partnership highlights the strength of community collaboration in addressing urgent humanitarian needs,” said Ms. Orero.
